The groundbreaking 0-hour Truck Rebuild Project represents a significant step towards blending operational excellence with environmental responsibility. Instead of opting for new heavy-duty trucks, PT Vale rejigs aging trucks, restoring them to a “zero-hour” condition. This innovative approach not only mirrors the performance and safety of brand new vehicles but also mitigates the environmental impact linked to manufacturing and transporting new trucks. The initiative has successfully reduced industrial waste and emissions, reinforcing circular economy principles within mining operations.
This project aligns with PT Vale’s vision to embed sustainability in its supply chain. By committing to zero-hour rebuilds, the company effectively lowers its carbon footprint while enhancing cost efficiency and operational resilience. The refurbished fleet enables Vale to meet the global demand for nickel, a vital component for the clean energy transition, all while prioritizing environmental stewardship and safety.
In addition to the rebuild project, PT Vale has also progressed towards renewable fuel solutions. Collaborating with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, PT Trakindo Utama, and PT United Tractors, the Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) project aims to decrease the carbon intensity of logistics and mining processes.

These efforts collectively demonstrate that mining supply chains can become hubs of innovation and responsibility.
Sadewo, Head of Supply Chain Management at PT Vale, emphasized the program’s transformative impact, stating, “The 0-hour Truck Rebuild is more than just maintenance; it’s a sustainability solution. By choosing to rebuild, we extend the life of critical assets, cut down on waste, and reduce emissions, all while ensuring our operations remain efficient and reliable. Our focus on renewable energy and green logistics underscores our commitment to advancing supply chain practices for a responsible and high-performing future.”
Reflecting on the achievement, Bernardus Irmanto, CEO of PT Vale, remarked, “While awards are valuable recognitions, the impact they signify is what truly matters. The 0-hour Truck Rebuild represents the legacy we aim to establish—one where innovation protects the environment and fosters growth. As part of the MIND ID family, we understand that mining responsibly today is crucial for nurturing a better tomorrow.”
